Microsoft CEO: Setting AI ‘guardrails’ for avoiding viral fake explicit images.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has called for “guardrails” on artificial intelligence (AI) and technology after explicit, AI-generated images of Taylor Swift went viral. Nadella argued that it is the responsibility of society to manage emerging technology and put in place safeguards to prevent harmful content from being produced. He suggested that a convergence of norms between law enforcement, tech platforms, and society could help govern AI more effectively. The call for guardrails comes after explicit AI-generated images of Swift circulated on social media, drawing concerns from the Biden administration about the spread of misinformation and non-consensual imagery. In October, President Biden signed an executive order on AI that aims to manage the risks associated with the technology. Democratic lawmaker Yvette Clarke has also called for action to address the issue of women being targeted by deepfakes without consent.
